The best way to make sure you’re drinking a good mezcal is its artisanal origin, one that respects the ancient process provided by expert mixologists from the region.
9Reinos handles a process that follows 9 crucial steps: crop, maturing, harvesting, grinding, slow-bake, fermentation, distillation, refinement and tasting. All these inspired in the legend from the Nahua mythology that says the dead must travel through the 9 realms of Mictlan (the underworld) to reach eternal rest.

The traditional process begins with the harvest of the best batches from agave espadin which has been maturing for 6 years. The pines (or piñas in Spanish) are taken to the oven and grinded after in a stone mill locally called Palenque. After a slow-bake, the liquid is fermented and finally distilled in copper stills.
The final step for the master mixologist is to taste the mix and see if it meets expectations to be bottled.
