Artisanal Mezcal
1OO% agave espadin
9Reinos is a sacred spirit born from the best batches of agave espadin collected throughout the valleys of Oaxaca.

Pre-Hispanic heritage
Smoked, yet complex flavor
9Reinos gets its inspiration from the ancient Mictlan legend, the nine-stage journey that departed souls had to complete before arriving to their eternal rest. Our nine-stage process comes from the artisanal tradition of the palenque, a sort of handmade distillery.
This sacred spirit owes its smoked flavor to six years of nurturing and maturing the agave plants we later cut to begin its production.
Besides the cooking of what we call piñas (or pines), we also add natural ingredients from the region. This mix is fermented and later distilled in copper stills, the last step before going into the bottle.
Origins
Our artisanal process is based in collecting only small batches of the best agave espadin, which is mature enough after six years of growth in the local valleys of Oaxaca.
Our 9-step production process consists in: crop, maturing, harvesting, grinding, slow-bake, fermentation, distillation, refinement and tasting.
Each of these steps is founded on basic principles from the artisanal production of mezcal, and our master mixologist at the palenque.

The owl or “tecolote”
A winged messenger
Our monogram takes its inspiration from this winged messenger, which in the Mictlan legend is the only living creature that goes between the land of the living and the dead.
It is said that when the owl visits someone, life is about to end and the person must travel nine realms to get to the eternal rest.
This graphic element placed on our cork and label, reminds us about the Mexican celebration of life and death as a hole, and our deep pre-Hispanic roots and rituals
